Isaiah 40:7-8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.
As we close up our North Carolina cabin for winter, the signs of autumn are hard to miss. Nuts abound on the ground and are being gathered by squirrels and other creatures. The leaves are falling rapidly especially when the wind blows. Trees are becoming more bare by the hour. It’s caused me to think of our lives. Jim and I are now in the sunset years, but God’s beauty still surrounds us each and every day. We appreciate the colors of autumn but we look forward to the approach of winter and cooler weather. Jim has dreams of coming to the mountains to share a winter snow, and of course, we both look forward to the spring as life bursts forth anew and we plan to come back to our beloved Glade Valley home. Life is one change after another. Some we consider good, some we don’t, but as Christians we always have hope. Hope for another day, another year and best of all, the hope of eternity. God has promised us eternal life through the death of His precious Son, Christ Jesus, on the cross. No matter what happens in our lives, we know in our hearts that His Word is eternal and our future is secure in Him. Take in His Word and hold it tight for as He promised in Isaiah 41:10, He will uphold us with His righteous right hand! Praise and give glory to His Name for He forgets not His own!
