Crosses adorn our landscape. Many have a prominent place in cemeteries or on churches. One of my favorites is beside Lake Junaluska in North Carolina. We recognize a cross as a Christian symbol, but how often do we really focus on the price Christ paid for all of us on that cross so long ago? Hebrews 12:2 states most clearly “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Philippians 2:8 And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Colossians 2:14 By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
A precious price was paid for us all on that dark day we now commemorate as Good Friday. God’s love provided the perfect sacrifice, His Son Christ Jesus, to free us from sin and assure us of eternal life if we but believe. How blessed we are!
