Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.”
Mary’s cousin Elizabeth, spoke these words to Mary after being filled with the Holy Spirit and feeling her baby jump with joy in her womb. She realized that Mary was carrying the Lord’s baby. This was truly a God moment! Imagine the excitement and joy these two women shared. Elizabeth had conceived late in life and her pregnancy was a miracle as was Mary’s. They were carrying babies who would dedicate their lives to serving the Lord. John the Baptist, Elizabeth’s son, would pave the way for Christ’s ministry, and like Jesus, his name was given to his father by the angel, Gabriel. Miracles of birth arranged by the Lord and announced by Gabriel!
The first Christmas card we received this year had the word “Believe” emblazoned on it. I also remembered that it was the slogan for Macy’s 2015 campaign during the Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. We need to take the scriptural message of Elizabeth’s words to Mary to heart. It’s all about our faith! Christmas, Christ’s birth, the plan for our salvation – we need to believe with all our hearts, minds, and souls. Like Mary, we will be blessed if we believe the Lord will fulfill His promises to us also. Believe His Word! He speaks His promises to all of us and He fulfills them. Believe!!!
